My husband and I recently returned from the most unforgettable 6-day adventure in Morocco, and I couldn’t wait to share every detail of our trip with you! We flew into Marrakesh, a vibrant and culturally rich city that instantly swept us off our feet with its colors, energy, and warmth.
Our Stay at Valeria Club Medina Hotel
We stayed at the Valeria Club Medina, and let me just say—this place was incredible. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make our trip feel extra special. Everyone was so friendly and attentive, and it honestly felt like a home away from home.
One of the highlights of the hotel was the spa—a true haven of relaxation. The waiting area downstairs was so charming, with tea, snacks, and a cozy atmosphere. We indulged in a few treatments (which were surprisingly affordable), enjoyed the hydro pool complete with a jacuzzi and waterfall, and spent time in the sauna and steam room. A big shoutout to Souhaila, one of the lovely spa staff who made our experience even more enjoyable with her warm and welcoming nature.
Entertainment & Activities at the Hotel
There was always something to do at the hotel! In the evenings, we enjoyed various shows and activities. A dance competition had us laughing all night, and the All-White Party was a night to remember—complete with traditional Moroccan drumming, dancing, and an electric outdoor atmosphere that had everyone up and moving.
The hotel also offers a variety of amenities including tennis courts, football pitches, several swimming pools, a waterpark, and even an adults-only area for those looking to relax in peace.
Exploring Marrakesh & Beyond
Our adventure continued beyond the hotel thanks to Mohal, our taxi driver who quickly became a good friend. On our first day, he took us into the heart of the Old Medina for some shopping, where we wandered through the lively souks full of handcrafted treasures.
Next up was a trip to the Agafay Desert, where we had the best time riding camels and quad bikes. Our guides, Karim and Abdul Rahim, made the experience so much fun—especially Abdul Rahim, who helped us capture some amazing and hilarious videos as we explored the desert.
One of our favorite day trips was to the Ourika Valley Waterfall. With the help of our guide, Abdil, we hiked halfway up the mountain and soaked in the natural beauty of the landscape. On the way there, we stopped at a Berber village, where we learned how argan oil is made and had the chance to chat with some of the locals. They showed us a range of handmade skincare and haircare products, which we couldn’t resist bringing home!
Final Thoughts
All in all, Morocco truly stole our hearts. The culture, the people, the food, the landscapes—every moment was magical. The only downside to our trip was the experience at the airport. We found some of the staff to be a bit rude, and the number of security checks both arriving and departing felt excessive and time-consuming.
But honestly, that small hiccup couldn’t take away from how special the trip was. If you’re thinking about visiting Morocco, especially Marrakesh, I say go for it! You’ll come back with beautiful memories, a deeper appreciation for Moroccan culture, and maybe even a few new friends along the way.
🌍 Tips for Future Travelers to Morocco
Dress modestly, especially when exploring markets, religious sites, or smaller villages. Lightweight, breathable clothes that cover your shoulders and knees are ideal.
Always carry some cash, especially small change. Many local vendors and smaller establishments don’t take card.
Haggle at the souks! It’s part of the culture and expected. Just remember to keep it lighthearted and fun.
Stay hydrated. Marrakesh can get hot, especially if you're out in the desert or hiking.
Use a trusted driver or guide for day trips. We were so lucky to meet Mohal—ask your hotel if they can recommend someone reliable.
Bring comfy shoes if you plan on walking the medina or doing hikes. There’s a lot of cobblestone and uneven paths.
Try a traditional hammam experience at least once! It’s unique and very rejuvenating.
Be patient at the airport. Give yourself extra time when flying in or out due to multiple security checks and potentially long lines.
Learn a few basic phrases in Arabic or French. Even just saying “hello” or “thank you” in the local language goes a long way and is always appreciated.
